CLAIRE HEALY AND SEAN CORDEIRO
BERRY SHOWGROUND PAVILION
Working as a collaborative duo since 2003, Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro’s practice reflects a preoccupation with the dynamics of global mobility, fallout of consumer society, and contemporary notion of home. Combining a playful sense of humour and an engagement with art historical precedents, their work is characterised by the deconstruction and reinvention of prefabricated structures and the assemblage of accumulated objects into extraordinary sculptures and installations.
Winners of the 2022 Sir John Sulman Prize, the duo have exhibited worldwide in prestigious galleries and major festivals and their work has been acquired by The National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; Venice Biennale, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney; Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane; Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide, and more.
For OpenField, Healy and Cordeiro have been commissioned to create a new work from the donated LEGO of the local community. This large scale wall piece will be exhibited alongside two pieces from their collection.
