MICHAEL PURDY

Michael Purdy is a South Coast NSW sculptor who’s large scale works can be found in public spaces throughout NSW including several in the Berry local area.
Before sculpture, Purdy studied landscape architecture at UNSW and his ongoing interest in environmental matters and deep connection to the landscape have always been central to his artistic practice . He believes that originality springs from direct interactions with the natural world around us.
Purdy has won numerous awards including four at Bondi Sculpture by the Sea. Most recent career highlights include winning the University of Western Sydney Sculpture Award in 2016, the Wollongong Sculpture Prize in 2018 and first prize in the Kangaroo Valley Sculpture Show in 2019.
